Episode 65-68: Could've Been A Shakespeare

long time no see, my bad ! anyways, here's some glimpses of the last 4 weeks.

WEEK 65, 66, 67

I'm only gonna put the best of the best in here for these past 3 weeks. you'll have to consult my mission journal for the rest. so, here's some highlights from these weeks:

- we had a blitz in our area! that's basically when all the missionaries in our district go into one area to go contacting. we sent everyone to their own little spots and let them loose.

- we did some cooking with one of our members! I would say I learned how to make chow mein but I definitely dont remember how it was done

- we filmer Facebook videos with the Facebook elders ! so just saying, keep an eye out for some fire videos on our mission's page

- found some awesome new friends!

- new years was fun. well, we didn't really do anything except for wake up at midnight to celebrate for like 5 minutes and then go back to bed. but good luck on sleeping because literally everyone was blaring their horns and setting off their fireworks hahah, classic

WEEK 68

okay finally some real content. this week was good! started out with a real bang. me and Sœur Hunter decided to take a walk around the outside of the house Monday night, and we were definitely not prepared to meet 50 cockroaches about 1 minute in. no joke, they were all just congregating on the electrical box/concrete slab. we felt like we interrupted something. anyways, we make the other Sœurs come look at them and then my comp decides to bomb them with Raid. apparently they didn't love that because they started scattering and then one slithered across my foot and I lost it so we all made a dash for it lol. word must've gotten around the cockroach community because they don't congregate there anymore.

Sunday afternoon me and my comp were in the valley. now, as we know, in this valley there is a river, and across this river there are houses. untapped potential. so we've been trying to cross this river, but either there are dogs, or it's too strong, or something else. but on Sunday we found another pretty shallow opening and we're like "allons-y" but then I realised I had Birkenstocks on (rookie move) so I told my comp to go across without me and film what was over there as I watched her from the other side. so we do that, but after she crosses, the clear water becomes brown. and then suddenly the river gets very fast. I look up into the valley and sure enough there's a bunch of rain clouds. so I call Sœur back over, and she's making it, doing it, but then she stumbles and goes hands-down to catch herself. she goes "save the phone!!" as she hands the wet phone to me. I chuck it on the bank and go back to help but at this point she's fine. other than getting wet and having to give a phone CPR it was a fun time.

did some genealogy work this week and found out I'm 1st cousins with William Shakespeare. the name's on my dad's side but since the last relative was a woman, it got married out. must be where all my writing prowess comes from, surely. the resemblance is uncanny. so yeah, could've been a Shakespeare.

we've been working with one of our friends, Herehia, to get her on date for baptism. she totally wants to get baptised, but she won't choose a date until she's finished with the lessons. but she also wants to go the the temple with the young women on January 30th. so... basically we're teaching some very lengthy lessons at the moment. pray for her to choose a date soon!!

we've been having some good in-person meals this week with a bunch of different families. one of them found out that we love baking so she asked us if we could make the same brownies we made for another person's birthday. she was asking us about the recipe like "ohhh did you use cocoa powder or chocolate??" and knowing full well we'd used Betty Crockers finest box mix, we were like "....uhhhhhh cocoa powder. for sure" lol our fault. anyways somehow got us roped into showing them how to make brownies and apple pie next week so pray for us to have the gift of baking.

now for a little spiritual thought. for my new study in the book of mormon, I've been highlighting and numbering everytime Jesus Christ is named, His titles, etc. (ex: Lord, Redeemer, Messiah, Christ, etc). I've only just reached Mosiah and His name(s) has been mentioned nearly 1000 times already. when something carries a strong testimony of the Savior, His name will be ever-prevalent. I've been reflecting on how many times I use the names or titles of Christ in everyday life. as a missionary it's a little easier, because we preach of Christ, but what about non-missionary life? how many times do we mention Christ throughout the day? my promise this week is that as you continue to speak of Christ, faith and hope and a great testimony of Him will follow.

anyways that's it! sorry this is like a month late haha. I love u all!!
