Episode 69: Last Sprint

aloha kakou, pehea oe?

no more 3-4 week emails. I'm a changed person now. so here's some weekly highlights!

Monday was pretty cool, it was pday and we all got to come together as a zone for a little bit. that night we also went to a family home evening for the Tahito family, which was super fun. we played some games with them and had a really good meal at the end. we also got transfer news that my comp is going to Makemo, a tiny island way off of Tahiti!

tuesday was pretty crazy since my comp now had like 24 hours to say goodbye to everyone haha. so we were basically just bouncing around the sector all day, except to go to the doctor, which was less bouncing and more waiting for 2.5 hours. I was there to ask about some back pain, and she told me to go swimming. it was kinda awkward and funny explaining that missionnaires aren't allowed to swim -- she looked really confused lol. we also had a huge miracle on Tuesday: we finally set a baptismal date for herehia !! sooo excited!!

Wednesday was a wild day. we woke up bright and early at about 3:30 AM to go take my comp to the airport. we all got in the car and were all ready to go when suddenly we realize we forgot keys. then suddenly we realize the door was locked. so as I'm basically asleep in the car, all the rest of the housemates are casing our house trying to find an open window. eventually (by the grace of God) they find one, drag a chair over, and Sœur Hill throws herself through it. so after all that we got keys and were finally off to the airport. the rest of that day was wild too, I was in a trio with Vaiatu and there were sooo many houses to visit it was crazy haha. but somehow we all survived and went to bed very easily that night.

Thursday was also so fun! it was transfer day and so it was a little chaotic hahah. we got all our stuff together and made it down to papeete, where we proceeded to talk to other missionaries for like 2 hours. we are super effective. anyways I got my new comp Sœur Sanford, who is suuuper funny and so chill. after getting some groceries for her and heading back down to the house we dipped to go out to the papehue chapel for a sports activity! some kids taught us how to play baseball after they told us how ridiculous it was that we, as Americans, don't know how to play baseball.

Friday ! I love Fridays because that means we have district council and that means that we get to hang out with other missionaries. always a blast. we played the newlywed game with our comps as a district activity and it was pretty funny hahah. me and my comp had it all down after like 24 hours of knowing each other. on friday we also had a lesson with Moehau! he's a papi who prefers to speak tahitian, but since our member who translates didn't show, we did our best doing some tahitian french mixture for the lesson. after a whole hour we managed to teach him that God loves him.

Saturday was a chill day -- we did pretty much the usual, but when we tried to go out we discovered we were somehow locked... in? i don't even know how you do that. but somehow we did. we waited a while for the other sisters to come home and let us loose so that we could make it to all of our lessons hahah. we also had a member meal that night where they had Tinkerbell on for their 4 year old daughter, and me and my comp were struggling so hard not to watch it lol. the amount of self control we had to use was insane.

enfin, Sunday. church was super great, and we had a great member meal afterward. later that day we went to do contacting and we didn't find anyone, but we checked in with one of our friends who's interested, Axel. he was super kind and he wanted us to come back, so please pray that we can have a lesson with Axel soon!

for a quick spiritual thought, I just want to testify of the changing power of Christ. having just entered the last transfer of my mission has made me pretty reflective and pretty sentimental. His Atonement, love, and charity have blessed my life and the lived of those around me in ways I won't be able to forget. I am not the person I was before, in the best ways. I'm still me, but (hopefully) a little more refined. His hand has shaped me and is continuing to shape me as I align my will with His. I encourage you all to do the same! it's not easy, and it won't be perfect, but if you show Him you're willing, He will work with what you give Him.

anyways c'est tout. je vous aime, chacun entre vous! bonne semaine!!

- Sœur snuggs ♡
