WEEK 46:
Anyways, this was a good week. Here's some little moments.
We had a lesson with our friend Leo this week, and we were talking about prayer and how we need to pray to gain witnesses of truth. I explained this by saying that the first time I read the Book of Mormon, I wasn't sure how to know if it was true, and when I learned that I had to pray about it I thought it was a little weird. But then I did it and it was great. Voilà. He nods and is like "yes. You see that mango tree over there? It wouldn't give me any fruit for a long time and I was so mad. Then my brother in law told me I had to speak to the tree, and I thought that was the dumbest answer. But then I spoke to it and now there's mangoes." So, if you guys have questions, bring them to God in prayer. I can't promise He'll give you mangoes, but He will give you answers.
On Sunday night we were just chilling in the house, doing studies. Then our members arrive to give us food, and when we step outside that's when we realised there were swarms of little moth bug things just absolutely everywhere. Like, you could barely breathe because they were just everywhere. So we ran back inside, and that's when we saw that they'd gotten inside and were swarming all of our lights. So we're screaming, Sœur Fichtners trying to smack them with a racquet, and I grab some bug spray to take them down. It felt like a mini apocalypse. After we vanquished them from our home we ate pizza and watched the bug storm outside. The lizards had a field day. Pretty entertaining. I've never seen so many bugs.
WEEK 47:
Had a lesson with our old mami friend Muriel this week. At the end she goes "wait" and then comes back with a *giant* bag of old grandma tahitian dresses. They were pretty amazing, we wore them to church on Sunday and everyone ate it up.
This week was zone conference, too! We talked a lot about planning questions and invitations in advance and really really fitting them to a person's needs. So we've been making a more concentrated effort to do that since then, and it's been great! Blessings come from following inspired direction.
We made like 100 cookies and set up a cookie stand outside a little store this week. The cookies were free but people were nervous. So whenever one person came, there were like 6 that would also gravitate over after seeing it was okay. It was so funny seeing big tahitian men nervously come up and be like "they're free?" We were going pretty good until this little girl came up with a box and was like "they're free right?" And we were like "yeah!" And she goes "cool" before shoving the remaining 20 cookies into her box. Oh well. They were free. That ones on us.
WEEK 48:
This week was soooo good ! We had a bunch of lessons, especially with our little friend Aukai. Pretty sure I mentioned him last time but he's this cute little kid who loves the lessons and loves writing. He wrote a story of the plan of salvation after we taught it to him. So freaking cute. Anyways, we went to one of his lessons this week and right after we sat down he blurted "I wanna be baptized!!" And those are just the best words a missionary could hear. We asked him why and he said "because i wanna follow jesus!" When we were fixing a date for him he was SO excited, literally jumping up and down, so so happy. He is the BEST little kid and I can't wait for him to get baptised!!
We've been making good progress with our friend Vaiana too. She's super awesome, we've been teaching her since I got here but recently she's been stellar with the invitations we give her, like reading and praying. The same has been going on with our friend Leo. Yay for progress!
We've been teaching this other family, the Matautau's. They're super awesome -- they live in the middle of this big forest and everything we go I have to arm myself with a giant mosquito spray can but it's pretty cool out there. Anyways, this family is so cute. We're mostly teaching the wife, Irène, and her oldest daughter, Fetia, who's 9. The dad is an inactive member so he's been joining to come back too! They're all so great. We've been doing a lotttt of games with them to keep Fetia's attention and help her understand, and it's been going amazing. Honestly kids are smarter than adults sometimes. They just get it. But it's been so fun teaching them! I always feel so much happier after being with them.
Anyways I'll cut it off there. TLDR: had a pretty good past few weeks.
I love you all! Thanks for all the kind messages! Have a great week :^)
