Episode 38: Ruled By The Vibe
Whoa what's this, an email directly after my last email and not 3 weeks after? Don't get used to it, next one will probably be in a month (blagues blagues)
Anyways I'm in Moorea now ! It's a lil island a little ways off from Tahiti. It's super pretty here, the water is crystal blue and there's no light pollution so nighttime is super cool. Do kinda wish there were a few street lamps though but what can you do. The people here are super kind though ! But a lot of them prefer Tahitian, so my language studies are gonna have to bulk up a bit because my Tahitian is basically non-existent. Faaitoito à moi
I may have only been here a week but I've already seen some miracles. First, I learned that there's this little girl from France here on vacation and wants to get baptised here. Common dit-on freebie? Haha no but seriously I was so excited, I love teaching kids and I was excited to teach lessons that I don't normally get to, like the 10 commandments and word of wisdom and stuff. She older sister doesn't know if she wants to be baptised yet, but she's been joining and engaged in the lessons so that's been so awesome! They're so cute I love them.
Another miracle I've seen has honestly been with the language. In my last area we spoke a lot of English so my French was.. so-so lol. But now that I'm the older comp and have had to carry in the French department, I've seen a bunncchhh of progression in this last week. I'm honestly relieved lol. Gift of tongues is real. If you pray for it and make action to prepare for it, you'll have it.
My favorite miracle from this week has been this little mami we found while contacting. We were out yelling at gates and this mami comes out and is like "hmmm I'm kinda just resting right now" and were like "OK pas grave!" But then she's like "waitwaitwait actually do you guys have a French bible?" And we did not, but I was like "can we bring one to you Saturday?" And so we agree to do that. Now, what I did not know is that there are no Bibles in our house except for our own, and also that there was no way to get one to Moorea in time. So Saturday comes and we decide to tell her we can't get her one until the 20th, and she's like "ça va ça va" but we also gave her a Book of Mormon. She took it really happily and told us she'd read it, and that she was so happy that we were out here doing missionary work. She gave us little mami bisous and started crying. Right before we left we shared Mosiah 16:9 with her as well and she liked it :^) anyways, long story short, we're going back after zone conference and we're gonna give her that Bible, and hopefully a lesson too. Before we had left the last time, I had prayed for her heart to be softened, and I definitely saw that come to pass. Prayer is the most powerful thing. Never hesitate to say a prayer !!
Anyways that most of it for this week. Stay safe, tell your loved ones you love them, and be kind to others. See you guys next time :^)
