Episode 33: The Jeweler's Hands
Bonjour tout le monde ! This week was suuuper fast, but it was a great week! Didn't get sick this time, which is always a plus.
We had an amazing visit with an inactive member this week. The work in our sector has been suuuuper slow going, so this visit really boosted our morale. We went over with the Winters and one of our members, and shared cookies with the inactive member and her family. It was just a really great, friendly visit that reminded me how awesome the work is :^)
On Saturday we were at the house of one of the missionary couples in our district, and the wife (Sœur Winter) takes my comps necklace and starts cleaning the chain with a rag. She pulls too hard though, and the chain breaks in three pieces. My comp looks thoroughly distressed as the chain for her favourite necklace is broken, so I quickly say something like "don't worry Sœur, I'm a master chain fixer", knowing full well I've never fixed a chain in my life. Anyways, soon I've got two tweezers and phone flashlight, and I'm going at the world's tiniest chain, trying to fix it with the precision of a surgeon. I *did* end up fixing it though, so basically I'm thinking I should quit animation and go into jewelry.
We also had a really fun lesson on Saturday ! We reenacted the story of David and Goliath with our friends Joselito and Patrice. They're 9 and 17 respectively, so we've been trying to find ways to keep their attention in lessons, and we've found that doing plays of scripture stories is helpful. Joselito is always pretty excited when the story involves him "fighting" Patrice.
Sunday night ended pretty good with a fireside type deal and a bird rescue. I saw this sad little mourning dove fluttering in the parking lot and went to go get some toilet paper to scoop him up. So I go pick him up, name him Jake, and walk him up to a big grass patch on top of the hill next to our chapel. I don't actually know if he lived or died -- I'm kinda hoping he just hit a window at the church and was dazed. My comp wanted me to put it out of its misery but I just couldn't. What if he was just chilling? Anyways, prayers for Jakey. Or maybe RIP Jakey. Either one works.
This week I finished Philippians in the New Testament, and let me just say firstly that it was gas. Anyways, one of my favourite verses was Philippians 4:7, "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
I especially liked the part where it states that the peace of God surpasses all understanding. It's so true! I can say that whenever I've felt peace through our Heavenly Father, it truly is a feeling unlike anything else. It's almost unable to describe. It's also something that we cannot begin to understand without experiencing. However mysterious, though, the peace of God is something that we can always, in this life, chase after. In the eternities, it is ours to keep.
Anyways, that's all this week! I love you all so much ! Until next time :^)
