Episode 26: Dune
Well hello there, howdy, greetings !
I've officially moved into my new sector, Pirae 1. It's right next to Papeete, so it's city and suburbs. But our house is suuuuper far from our area so we gotta bike through like 3 areas just to get to ours hahah. My first day biking in the city was very scary, I thought for sure I was gonna smash into a big Ford Raptor and that'd be it, but now I'm doing great! Basically a pro.
On Friday night our whole district got together and ate Macdo while our district leader explained the entire plot of all three Dune books to us for like 30 minutes. From what I understood, it's basically if Star Wars and the Bible had a baby? There may even be more than 3 books, but I wouldn't know, because we stopped him at the end of the third book after half an hour. Not gonna lie though... now I kinda wanna read Dune.
We have a senior couple in our district, the Winters. They're so so nice! Theyre suuuper new to French Polynesia, and when they got their call it told them they were learning Tahitian, and while yes, people speak Tahitian here, French is for sure the first language you should learn. So they know almost no French, which is very hard when you live in Tahiti. Anyways, we offered to come and do language study with them every Friday so we're gonna start doing that! They've been giving us rides in their giant truck and feeding us American style dinners when we don't have a faatam so it's a pretty solid exchange. They're seriously so sweet though, I love them <3
Technically there's a part of our area that's in the ocean. And while we may not be allowed to swim, we are officially allowed to touch the water, sooooo... if any of you know any fish in Pirae that wanna learn more about the restored gospel, let me know. I guess you could say I'm finding Nemo (*ba dum tss*)
We also found this one woman during contacting who looked pretty French, but apparently she was Tahitian. At first she rejected us but then I was like "I just love your garden, it's so pretty!" And she paused and then went like "you guys can come in and look and the garden and the ocean". Then she proceeded to show us how she lived right on the marina of the Pirae private yacht club, give us a bag full of rambutan and pamplemousse, a bunch of flowers, and sent us on our way. She may not be interested, but she was very lovely, and she made my day :^)
Anyways that's the most of it for this week -- I hope you all had a lovely Easter and week. Never forget that Jesus Christ loves you so so much and that He is always there for you! He died and rose again for each one of us, and He knows and sees us individually and perfectly. I'm so grateful for His example and the opportunity to do His work.
Je vous aime beaucoup, have a wonderful wonderful week :))
