Episode 16: So Many Cats
Alloooooo tout le monde, ça va? It's been a bit of a hot second. I don't really have an excuse, I've just been slacking on emails hahah
Anyways these past few weeks have been super awesome!! It would take a pretty long time to list out everything from the past 3 weeks so I'll just go over stuff from this week (which was easily the best one anyways, so it works out).
Earlier this week things were not so awesome -- a lot of our friends were either canceling on us, not doing their invitations/progressing, or both. We had just tried to go to a lesson and our friend wasn't there, so we just sat on the side of the road in defeat for a second haha. Then my companion, soeur thelin, said a prayer and asked for Heavenly Father to lead us to those who needed our message. As soon as we opened our eyes, one of our friends who we haven't seen in weeks zooms past us on a moped. She stops and turns around and starts talking to us, and she was just having a pretty rough time with life in general. We ask if we can meet with her the next day and she accepts! Then later on in the day we were walking through a neighborhood and we meet this woman named Astrid. She's new in Mataiea and she's really sweet! We shared a quick message with her and when we offered her a Book of Mormon she accepted it really kindly! Then she ran into her house and got some avocados for us hahah, it was really nice. After that we were walking down the road to get to our dinner appointment and we meet a man named Louis, who said that his "heart was super open" and that he'd love to receive us another time. We also met this super kind family who said we could drop by anytime their gate was open (which we did about two days later).
We also tried to do some heart attacks (taping paper hearts to someone's gate or door) and our first victim was one of our members, soeur clark. We go and try to sneakily (pathetically) tape up all these hearts to a wet wooden gate and she caught us hahah. She's like "come come", gesturing for us to come inside to visit. We go up to her deck and sit and she looks at my dress, which is this tahitian dress about 2 sizes too big for me that I found in a trash bag on the floor of our bedroom left by the last soeurs. Anyways she takes a gander at my garb and she's like "do y[ou guys like tahitian dresses?" And we're like "why yes of course" and she gets this super happy expression on her face and she goes "wait right here". About one minute later she comes back with four Mami dresses in her arms (a Mami dress is basically a tahitian grandma dress, they're pretty awesome) and is like "try them on!!!" Long story short, we leave soeur Clark's house with a bunch of Mami dresses, tahitian pillowcases, Mami necklaces, and pearl earrings. The tahitian people are so insanely kind and giving, I cannot believe I'm so blessed enough to be here with them.
As for the title of this email, and a little quick spiritual thought, basically I've noticed that a lot of times when I'm sad, Heavenly Father sends me a cat. I really like cats so it's pretty nice of Him. Yesterday I was feeling kinda not awesome (it was super hot, we were biking to the far end of our area, working on a Monday, a good soup of not fun things) but then we got to our lesson and a cat just appears and comes to sit with me. A week before that the same kinda thing was going on and we get to a lesson and two little kittens scamper out of the house.
I invite all of you to find out how Heavenly Father shows His love and care to you this week -- maybe it's by making traffic light on a stressful day, maybe it's by making sure there's one more croissant left at the bakery, or maybe it's by sending you cats. Whatever it is, I encourage you to look for it, and I can promise you'll find it.
Anyways I hope you all have a great week! Thank you for the emails and messages!!
A bientôt,
- soeur snuggs <3
