Episode 9: Elon Musk The Cat

Iaoranaaaa tout le monde! Ça va?

One week in Tahiti down. On Monday we had a really good faatamaraa, AKA member meal. They served us some steak strips on rice with broccoli, and apparently broccoli is really rare in Tahiti, so I got a good portion of that. It was really really really good hahaha. But honestly what made the meal is just how funny the family was. First of all, they had a cat named Elon Musk, and I about died laughing at that. Then the mother of the family tried to sell us on marrying her son. We were asking how many kids they had and she starts pulling up pictures of him and being like "il est très beau, oui?". We were trying to gently turn this grand offer down by saying things like  "ahh but sœur were missionaries!" And she'd just be like "ouiii but after, after!" hahahah. The funniest part was when she was trying to figure out my name and was like "snuggs... ohh sahnugggsss! I thought it said Snoop Dog or something!" Sooo now my new name is Sœur Snoop Dog

Honestly the food here is kinda confusing. Sometimes it's super American. There's the restaurant near us called Beach Burger, and on Wednesday a family took me and my companion there for lunch. I take a gander at the sign outside and it says something like "BEACH BURGER: BURGERS, PIZZA, BOUTIQUE" and so naturally I think "what could they possibly mean by boutique". Well we step inside and to my immediate left there's a roller-rink-style prize counter with *stacks* of Las Vegas memorabilia. Hats, glasses, shirts, beer pints, you name it, it says Las Vegas on it. Apparently people here really like Las Vegas, according to my companion. Honestly kinda tempted to get a hat.

On the flip side though, sometimes the food is very non American. On Friday I finally tried poisson cru, which is raw fish with coconut milk, cucumber, tomato, lime juice, etc. It was actually so good. I wasn't expecting not to like it because everyone says it's really good, but I feel like some people might be put off by the raw fish part. Aita, c'est parfait.

We bought a mosquito racquet last Monday and it's my new favourite thing. When those little idiots come flying too close I grab what is essentially the mosquito equivalent of Thor's hammer. I just swing it and there's a little bit of lightning and then boom, they're *finished*

We had two baptisms on Saturday!! One was for our ami de l'église Rosalba! She had been taking missionary lessons for a while and was SO excited to be baptized! :) I gave the talk on baptism as well which was very nervewracking hahah. And then the other one was for this little boy named Teavearii! He sang a song to kick it off and it was so flipping cute.

Honestly spiritual thought for today is just that God loves you! If I had the opportunity to tell every single person it the world one thing, it would be exactly that. Just know that you are all so so loved by our Heavenly Father! Have an amazing week!
