Episode 8: Not Vacation + Sava
Ia ora na/bonjour tout le monde! Wow this has been the biggest week ever. For one I moved to Tahiti so that's pretty cool. I'm serving in the Mataiea sector on the island of Tahiti! It's this quiet suburb area but our sector is huge (according to my comp)! We're also whitewashing, which means that we're just replacing both missionaries in this sector.
My French is.. definitely there. I'd say I can catch a good 40% of what people are saying most of the time hahah. I can say things too sometimes! I gave my testimony yesterday in church AND the opening prayer soo I'm basically fluent
I was really really sad to say goodbye to my MTC district (19K, if you guys are reading this, faaitoito, see some of you at christmas lol). But now I have a new district, and they're awesome too! We've even got an elder who was in MTC district 20/the other missionaries who flew over to Tahiti with us on Wednesday so that's super fun.
We've had a ton of lessons already too, and we've got a baptism next week! That was thanks to the missionaries before us though hahah, we're just bringing it home. But yeah tons of lessons, some contacting (first time riding a bike in 15 years..), normal missionary stuff. But what makes our days is this member named Sava.
Ohhhhhh Sava. He is my hero. He's this member that comes out with us almost every time we go teaching and he just CARRIES. I swear he's a modern day Amulek or like one of the three nephites. He's a spiritual machine. He just takes us to the homes of people he knows and is like "these are the new sister missionaries!!" And then after saying some things he'll turn to me and be like "bear your testimony!! :D" he is my favourite person ever he is just so so wholesome hahaha. He took us to this guy named Lucien's house, who he knows from work, and was like "Lucien is my best friend and he has such faith. At work there was a horse that was just so wild and it kept biting me and it was just a crazy horse. But Lucien said "I can tame the horse. I know I can do it." And he DID IT because of his faith!" Hahahah I love Sava so much. I could go on and on about him.
Anyways yeah so Tahiti is awesome and it's très beau but it's for sure not vacation. I'm being eaten alive by mosquitoes, it's very frustrating to not be able to speak my mind all the time, I feel like the dogs are gonna get me one of these days, etc. But I know that God never gives us a task that He knows we cannot handle. I know that I'm here in Tahiti, and in Mataiea, for a reason. It's going to be really hard sometimes, and it already has, but I know I'm not serving alone. I'm super excited to help continue His work!
I hope you all have a wonderful week. Once again I love receiving responses/messages from you all, it makes me super happy hahaha, thank you so much for sending them
