Episode 1: What Is Happening
Salut tout le monde! This is my first ever missionary email! Woo-hoo!!! Buuuut this is my third week as a missionary. I just haven't had that much stuff to talk about yet hahaha.
I arrived at Provo MTC on Wednesday. I'm writing this portion of my email on Thursday night. It feels like I've already been here for like two weeks. But when I'm finished it'll probably feel like it was a day. I'll be here for 7 weeks though, so we've got a ways to go.
My district is my favorite part. For anyone who doesn't know, your district (at the MTC) is basically a bunch of other missionaries who you'll spend a lot of time with and typically learn the same language with. Usually districts are made up of missionaries going a bunch of different places, but my district is ALL going to Tahiti!!! I love it! We're waiting on two elders to arrive still, though, as one of the is from Canada and the other is from England (New development: the Canadian elder just got his visa!)
There are some wonderful views here. While I'm incredibly excited to be going to Tahiti I'm extremely sad that I won't get to experience a proper autumn during my service. But being in Provo during the fall is a great fix to that -- the trees and colors are so beautiful!
Also, learning new languages is hard. Who was going to tell me that?? I feel ripped off. In all seriousness though haha it is. However I'm more fluent in French after three weeks of MTC training than I ever was in three years of school so I'm gonna have to credit that one to the gift of tongues. My speaking is faaaaarrrr from actually fluent but I can understand most of what my teachers are saying (they're doing full immersion now, which means they teach all of our classes in almost 100% french).
Like I said, I've only been here for two and a half days so I don't have a great amount to report on haha, hopefully next week will be more interesting. I honestly have pretty much no idea what I'm doing but we're gonna find out eventually. I just wanna say that God loves each and every one of you, and He's rooting for you and reaching out to you through every second of the day!
That's all for now. À bientôt!
