So my trainer, Soeur Thelin, died (finished her mission). RIP. I'm currently chilling in Mataiea for a third transfer with Soeur Sieverts. Yayyy! ... except I'm kinda freaking out lol. I feel like Spiderman when Iron Man died. I'm holding the area together by stringssss. It’s going good tho. We've still got all of our friends and we've got lessons and it's good. But sometimes it feels a little bit crazy lollll I've only got a little bit of time to write this so this is gonna be a short one!! But it's always worth sharing some miracles of the week. One of our friends, Vaitiare, has been having a really rough couple of weeks. Things have been really hard for her and her family and long story short she had nowhere to go. So we fasted with her that she'd find housing, and this week our prayers were answered! One of our members, the Wongs, took her in! It's not permanent housing of course, but it's such a huge blessing wrought by the power of fast...

Transfer calls/news was this week and I am STAYING in Mataiea for a third transfer! I'm super happy about it. I love this area so much and I'm excited to lead it out. They say that once you get to Taravao (my zone) you'll never leave Taravao, so who knows, maybe I'll just chill here the whole mission.  Soeur Sieverts will be my new comp! I'm going to be saying a very long and very sad goodbye to soeur thelin today. She's being transfered to the outer islands (AKA america). RIP to a real one, luv u thelin <3 don't forget our Rainforest Cafe Vegas trip when I get back  This week was suuuuper fire tho. Soooo many miracles!! We had a ton of lessons with a bunch of our friends and a good handful of them are progressing really well. One of my favourites of our friends is a little girl named Tevanui, who I'm convinced is the most precious kid ever. She's said some stuff like "I broke the commandment to not be jealous because I get jealous when my mo...

Episode 18: Flying Rat

Picture this: I'm on a split in Taravao with lovely Soeur Manning. We go to a baptismal interview for her friend Richard, who is getting baptized next week! Richard wanted to do it at his house, so we meet up with elder-ma at this beautiful house in the mountains of Taravao overlooking the Tahitian sea. The district leader and Richard do the interview while we wait and hang out, admiring the view. After everything's finished we're all just chatting, when I hear a rustle in the tree just over to the side overlooking a stone fence. A big fat rat materializes out of thin air and begins to scuttle along the fence until it reaches the end of it, which is just a big space where the gate is meant to close. The rat fearlessly continues to scuttle along and then proceeds to Superman-style launch itself off of the fence, where it then splats on the ground like a beanbag. Unphased, the rat continues on its journey into the Tahitian jungle. We all watched it happen and just kinda sat t...

Episode 17: The Big City

Bonjourrrrrr So to start off the week I totally ate it on the bike haha. AKA I crashed big time. I tried to hop on a grass median on a gravel road and I got flung. I'm just glad I didn't hit the barbed wire fence I landed right in front of tho... But anyways this week was great! We swapped our pday to Tuesday last week to be able to travel to Papeete and go to the temple, and that was super awesome. The temple was really beautiful and walking around in Papeete for a couple hours was pretty fun! I think I've gotten acclimated to living in a little suburb though because being in a city felt kinda insane. After being in Taravao/Mataiea for so long where the biggest store is a place called Carrefour (small Tahitian walmart), going to Papeete and seeing a Billabong, and then a Lacoste, and then like 12 fancy restaurants all on the same street was crazy. Pretty cool. I did not, however, appreciate the rat I saw scuttle through the parking lot.  On Friday we actually got to go bac...
